Torry Hardy Family Seeking Rheubin Taylor, John Taylor Phone Records

The Torry Hardy family is seeking telephone records of County Attorney
Rheubin Taylor and City Councilman John Taylor for the week of the
Bessie Smith Strut.
The 19-year-old was shot and killed at 10th Street near the Times Free
Press parking lot just after the Strut.
Rheubin Taylor Jr., son of the county attorney, has been interviewed
and said he fired shots at the scene after he said a group approached
him.
Attorney John Wolfe, who represents the Hardy family, said Councilman
Taylor's funeral home handled the Hardy body "and burned up the
internal organs." Attorney Wolfe said the organs could have provided
clues to the case.
Attorney Wolfe said, "Both of these men have government cell phones,
and the calls they made and received around the time of the shooting
could provide information to help in solving the case."
Attorney Wolfe also said that bullet fragments taken from the victim
during a second autopsy have been sent on to a lab at Elgin, Ill.
He said Police Chief Steve Parks told the family that the fragments
were so small that the TBI lab could not make a conclusion from them.
But he said they were sent to the Microtrace firm for further testing.
Attorney Wolfe also said he was sent a letter from the city attorney's
office saying the family would have to pay over $1,000 for a copy of
the 9-1-1 tapes at the time of the shooting. He said he was also told
the tapes would be edited.
Attorney Wolfe said that is too much to pay, and he said the family
wants the unedited tapes.
