Stereo Microscope

The stereo microscope (Wild M5 is shown) is a particle analyst’s first tool.  The stereo microscope is used for locating and picking small particles off of larger objects, the preparation of samples for other techniques and documentation of the original condition of particles to be analyzed.  The stereo microscope shown here is equipped with four types of illumination (transmitted, reflected and two types of oblique illumination) and can be equipped with a boom stand for working over even larger objects.  Surrounding the microscope are various preparations and the commonly used tools for particle manipulation (forceps, Teflon coated razor, tungsten needles).
